We attended a local car show and took pictures and spoke to the owners of wonderful pieces of classic works of American art.
First one we spotted, was a 1971 Buick GS (Grand Sport) Coupe in orange metallic and this car is Buick’s answer to the Chevelle muscle car from Chevrolet. This beast from Buick packs a massive 455 V-8 cubic inch (7.5 liters). Was rated at 350 bhp and 510 lb-ft.
This car gave me “horse power ” bumps just standing by it. And we got the chance to speak to the owner of this beautiful car, Bryce, who said he drives this car all over Utah and gets a lot of comments and thumbs up from other drivers.
Just, in my opinion, I think he may also have a few people that may want to race him sometimes.
Then we came across another early beauty, a 1931 Model A Ford. It was in excellent form and the owners were so delightful to speak to they gave us a tour about the history and the heritage of the car and what came with it when it was bought brand new. Johnny and Cindy Garret also belong to a Classic car club called The “Salty A’s”. Their group meets often and they travel around together for car shows, talking to people and educating them about their car club and these rare classics.
They also had displayed on a sheet of plywood the tools that came with the Model A when it was bought brand new. Wow! Who knew!? A car and free tools too!
The next car we came across was a Ford Tudor 1930 that is owned by Dick DeSpain and this car was in the middle of restoration. The owner wasn’t sure if he was going to do a full restore or do a hot rod project with her. But all I knew was to listen to the guy, cause he seemed like a really nice guy and looking at the car was exciting for me.
We did look at one last car, but we unfortunately did not get pictures because it was getting dark and we were in such intense conversation about how cool the interior of their car was and who did it. They were so nice to tell us who did it so we could check them out when it comes time to restore the interior of the Lil Chevy.
