Last summer I was able to go to the county south of me to a car show and a swap meet at the Utah Valley University in Utah County. I was in search of a specific hubcap that was made only for the half-ton Chevy trucks. I wanted this hubcap because I had two and I wanted two more to match what I already had. Once I saw this guy’s online ad, I noticed he had a few, and they were in perfect shape and so I called him ahead of time to meet with him to get these hubcaps. But then I found out he was going to be at the UVU college car show / swap meet. So I went down on a Saturday afternoon to meet with him. Once I was there it was a smorgasbord of classic car parts every where I turned my head. I think I might have been having a stroke! So many parts, NOT enough money!!!
While running through the swap meet trying to find this guy, he had a massive amount of wheel covers, so I thought spotting him wouldn’t be too hard. (But then again, there were so many parts!) After I found him I did not find the exact match to the hubcaps that I ventured down there for, but I did find some other beauties! Something that I haven’t seen since the mid-1980s. when my family was all together and I was a mid-teenager.
These baby moons with the Chevy bow tie stamped in them are 15 inch were made in the late sixties or early seventies. I haven’t done my full research the full research on the exact year they were made, all I know for sure is that they were apart of a great memory of my youth when things were happy in our family and memories of cars we had in the family.
Another treasure I also found there was a vintage twelve-volt spotlight that plugs into the cigarette lighter and it is in PRISTINE condition. I remember my parents having one in each one of their cars glove box as I was growing up. I always thought it was pretty neat, so I thought one day with me owning my little C-10 truck it would be cool to have a spot light for him one day also. So I set a goal for myself to search for one. So when I was at this car show/swap I thought I’d take a chance and see if somebody maybe was selling one. To my amazement, there were a few dealers that had some for sale. But the prices some people had them marked at, almost killed me. FOR REAL. So I stumbled on this really sweet couple that had one for sale, that had a GE (General Electric) brand, and to my amazement, they didn’t want an arm or a leg or my first born for it! Lol! They only wanted THREE DOLLARS for it and it had an extra cigarette lighter plug that came with it!!!!!!!
Then I found one more hubcap to match one I found in a junk yard for 5 more dollars, and it’s going to be another treasure for me to hang up in either my shop, garage, or den someday, whichever comes first. It will always be treasured by me!
