Testing with “Old School” test leads

Testing with “Old School” test leads

Testing on a window regulator

I needed to test these two window regulators to see if they both worked. And to also lineup clip leads on the cables to re-install the new clips I bought to re-install the regulator in my wife’s driver’s door side of her car.  Her car has an express motor that rolls the driver side window faster than the other windows. So I had to get the right one back in this door because I made the mistake of not marking them. Well, no one is perfect, I always say!

So, this is the reason for testing them now; to get it right and it took me a while to get my replacement window clips.

Now, with testing it from my chosen power source, the battery of course! Right?! Now I had the regulator and I put some twist ties on them so I can watch them up and down. (See pictures)

I put them by leads, where my clips go to make it easier to see if they work, at least for me. Now after testing these two, I have found they both work very well! So, which one is the driver’s side? I have taken a permanent marker to the motor of the driver’s side and finally marked it.

`

Now, this other one is one I kept from the passenger side. I replaced it about 4 years ago. At least now I have it and the motor is fine because the one I replaced this one with is not working very well right now. Just swap out the motor, I guess. Yay! Now As a WARNING! don’t hold the test leads on the positive post because it will get hot. So just lightly touch it with the clips.
