I look forward to the auto show season at the begaining of the year, it’s like having another birthday gift cause my birthday is in January. But this year is different and you may ask the question why? I’ll answer that question for you.
As you have seen, I am a Chevy truck legends member and I received free tickets to this auto show this year. So it made it even more exciting!
And I don’t know how it is for anybody else but getting free tickets?! That’s exciting as hell!!! First off Chevy exibit, I was NOT to excited to see the new Chevy trucks because of how they changed the looks of them. So I avoided the trucks. Then I did look at the Spark and the Sonic. Looked at the new Colorado and I liked the small changes they made to them. Then I moved on to other car company’s exhibits.
Went to Buick to see what changes they have made to their current line up and they have made some not too bad changes to their vehicles but MUCH heavier price tags! I may not be buying in the future! I did like the looks of the 2019 LACROSSE AVENIR, AWD (all wheel drive) it is a much bigger vehicle but it would be a great road car for cruising. Then I looked at the Buick REGAL, Sorry I didn’t get the price tag for this one. It is a great looking sedan, and the price tag is a little high but for the looks of it, it’s still quite appealing for a young family that is just starting out.
Then I went on to Lincoln. I looked at the new Lincoln NAUTILUS and I think this may be the vehicle they were talking about to replace the AVIATOR. Very good looking, little suv. Nice curvy lines for a Lincoln and the kind of price tag you would expect from Ford and the great technology you would expect from the Luxury car brand Lincoln.
The next vehicle I looked at was a Lincoln NAVIGATOR, EL (extended length) now the color of this suv is so captivating, one can not resist stopping and taking a look. It was so appealing, it just stands out!! And it was so hard for me to actually get these pictures because their were hordes of people around it. So after taking these pictures, one can see why there were so many around it, the styling and the technology and the comfort and the space in the vehicle. I can see why there would be so many people flocking to see this vehicle, and I bet that we will be seeing a few of these on the road in the not to short of future.
Now I turn myself to the Nissan display. I looked upon the Nissan TITAN pickup and this beauty of a truck is packing the Cummins turbo V-8 diesel and WOW that engine compartment is a tight fit! I would hate to be the mechanic to work in that engine compartment!!! Nissan has made themselves a very beautiful and capable competitor against other full size brands in the fight of the truck market place. Someday I may have to go out and test drive one of these!
Next we have 2019 Volkswagon ATLAS. Now this is Volkswagons entry into the 3-row suv class competition and I seen this vehicle a couple of years ago and could not wait for Volkswagon to get the green light to start production on this vehicle. It has a V-6 engine and the price tag is very well priced for a starter family on a budget that needs something that is affordable, fuel efficient and that is great in all weather conditions. If I wasn’t an American car lover this vehicle would definately be one of my choices to sit in my drive way in the near future.
Now the next vehicle, the only way I can explain it is Nissans take on a war wagon that you could take camping. This huge magnificant beast got me very excited because it would carry plenty of people with it’s 3 rows of seating, 4 wheel drive, V-8 engine, off road lighting, roof mounted camping tent, ladders to access the tent, push bars on the front and back, step bars, massive tires and wheels – let’s put it this way, this is the absolute all purpose camping in the back country where noone can find you – vehicle. And it gave me half inch high goose bumps on my arms. And I didn’t care to ask what the fuel mile was and didn’t even care.
My next stop was on to the Kia display. I stopped and looked at the Kia K900 sedan, and this is Kia’s luxury sedan. This one is redesigned for 2019. I’m not much lover of imports but this car isn’t to bad looking but after looking at the deal sheet and it’s price tag I felt my left arm start hurting, I thought I better call 911. Then I looked again to make sure it wasn’t a Cadillac for that price tag!
Then I went over and looked at the Mazda MIATA MX-5 and it’s a sporty little car with curves and sharp edges, it’s not your typical Hair Dresser’s car any more, this little car in my oppinion has grown up to be a man’s pocket rocket. This car looks more manly than the previous models and this color looks even more manly to this car enthusiast’s eyes. Now if I can get these guys away from it, I’d like to pop the hood to see what it’s got!
Next exibit I went to was Ford. I looked at the new Ford EXPEDITION and it was in an eye popping GORGEOUS blue!! This one shares the same platform with the Lincoln Navigator, but not the same nose or tail lights but still a beautiful SUV all the same. This vehicle doesn’t have the hordes of people around it like the Lincoln had. I am sure they share same engine transmission configuration. The Eco-boost engines that they both share and 10 speed automatic transmissions are amazing on horse power and towing capacity and fuel mileage. The Expidition and Navigator with the 3.5 litre, have the towing capacity of 9500 lbs. That is very impressive to me because that’s only a V-6 with a turbo on it and having that kind of towing capacity with this size of an suv, just blows my mind, that they can pull this off with this size of suv and General Motors with their full size suv’s is struggling to pull that off with a V-8 and they have 2 extra cylinders and Ford has accomplished it with only 6. I still in my mind I ask the question out loud, “What happened to General Motors?
When I had my 2000 Chevrolet Silverado, with a 5.3 litre V-8 and a four speed automatic, I pulled a car down from Evanston Wy. We went over the scales at the Port of Entry and my Silverado and a ’73 Ford LTD that weighed almost 6000 pds. with trailer and car together weighed just under 11,500 pounds and my Silverado pulled that weight all the way down from Evanston to American Fork, UT without breaking a sweat and not a bit of whining and moaning!!! We actually had people in 1 Ton trucks looking at us surprised and could not believe how much weight that pick up was pulling.
