I want to tell you the value of keeping your eyes on the internet classifieds for your local area. (Example: Craigslist, KSL.com classifieds, etc….)
On many occasions, I have found myself scrolling through the local classifieds and even the free ads and I have found opportunities for FREE or SUPER CHEAP tools! I have obtained hundreds of dollars of free things.
Estate sales are also an EXCELLENT place to keep a close eye on. They usually even show you pictures before the estate sale online, so you get a good idea what you will find there before you waste your gas and time going to it. And also the typical estate sale runs for 3 days. On the third day, they slash everything to half price, but if you get there closer to when they are cleaning up, you can clean up for practically NOTHING!
Thrift stores are also an excellent place to check often. You can easily find construction tools, woodworking tools, and fabrication tools, etc. If you buy several items they will throw in some items and cut you better deals. This works the same way with all of them.
So my point is, you can get great deals and free tools if you keep your eyes open and have patience!!!!!
